Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings in the wonderful city of Amherstburg
I purchased 3 avocados from Zehrs on Malden Road, and when I got home, they were no where to be found. I searched my entire car, thinking maybe they rolled around by accident, but no luck. I'm an on-call worker, and haven't been working much lately, and the avocados were basically a splurge, due to their price (but they're oh-so-yummy). I went back to the store the next day to pick up an item I forgot, and decided to check the front to see if they had a "left-behind log" for food. They did have this log, and I showed my recipe, but my avocados weren't listed. The friendly cashier said, "Just go pick out some more; you have your receipt, and I don't think that you'd come all the way back for 3 avocados if you already had them."
I worked at the same chain of grocers in the past, and I know that if the item left behind wasn't logged, the policy was that we couldn't give the customer the item. I asked if the cashier was sure, and she said, "Yes! Go ahead! If anyone stops you, I'll pay for them!"
She has no idea how much she made my day. Now I can "indulge" on avocados and not feel guilty for spending the money on something extra while not working much. Thank you so much for your kindness!!
